To Compare The Effectiveness Of Contracture Preventive Positioning Procedure For Hemiplegic Arm With Conventional Therapy

The purpose of the study is to compare the effectiveness of contracture preventive positioning procedure for hemiplegic arm with conventional therapy. An experimental study was carried out with 30 stroke patients for duration of 3 weeks. 30 patients was divided into two groups i.e. group A which is control group and group B which is experimental group. For group A conventional treatment was given such as passive range of motion. Group B received passive range of motion and positioning.

Evaluation Of Air Pollution Tolerance Index Of Selected Plants In South Chennai

One of the major problems faced by the world today is air pollution. Plants play a vital role in monitoring the air pollution. Plants are the ones, which have the ability to reduce the effect of air pollution. As they involve in this process, they are highly injured. The level of injury in plants is been studied through Air pollution tolerance index (APTI). APTI value can be calculated using four bio-chemical parameter namely, ascorbic acid content, total chlorophyll content, pH and relative water content.

Assessing The Demand, Availability And Accessibility Of Potable Water In Indian Sundarban Biosphere Reserve Area

Indian Sundarban Biosphere Reserve (SBR) area lies in the south-western part of Ganges Brahmaputra delta and supports 4.43 million population. Though crisscrossed by numerous rivers and bestowed by good amount of rainfall annually, scarcity of potable water is a major problem in SBR. Most of the rivers in Sundarbans have been disconnected from their sources and don’t receive upstream flows. Shallow ground water in SBR is brackish to saline while fresh groundwater occurs below 300m depth.

Opportunities And Challenges Of Wastewater Irrigation: A Study Of Peri Urban Agriculture Of Varanasi District, Uttar Pradesh, Ind

The easy availability during whole year and nutrient content of wastewater sludge plays a strong supportive role for increasing use of wastewater in agriculture. Increasing population and urbanization pressurizes food demands, socio-economic and environmental stresses. Urban or Periurban Agriculture (UPA) provides a complementary strategy to reduce food insecurity and enhance urban environmental management in the context of rural-urban linkage.

Application Of Principal Component Analysis For The Assessment Of Surface Water Quality Of Village Stream1,In Anakpa Uruan Local Government Area Of Akwa Ibom State Nigeria

An agglomerate multivariate study of the effect of crude oil exploration and exploitation on the surface water quality of Anakpa village stream 1 was conducted. This was done because Crude oil exploration and exploitation activities often introduce chemical substances which may contaminate the environment with trace metals. Therefore, to evaluate the extent of impact of such activities in the village stream of Anakpa principal component analysis method was utilized.

Owls And Owlets Of Rehmankheda Forest, Lucknow, India

Most owls are nocturnal birds of prey. This study was carried out in the Rehmankheda forest, which has an area of 1.325 sq. km and is situated 25 km from Lucknow city. This forest is a part of the Central Institute of Subtropical Horticulture. The aim of this study was to generate a list of owls found in dense forest of Rehmankheda. Point count method was adopted with limited distance. Out of eleven owl species found in Uttar Pradesh (Grimmett et al. 1999) six species of owls were found in Rehmankheda forest.

Analysis Of Heavy Metals And Minerals In Fruit Juices By Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry Coupled With Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

The aim of the study was to investigate the amount of heavy metals and minerals in fruit juices collected from different vendors as a basis for evaluating their possible effects on the health of consumers. The heavy metals (As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, and Zn) were analyzed by ICP-MS while minerals (Ca, Fe, Na and K) were analyzed by AAS. In the present study, no heavy metal was detected in the fruits juice samples. The minerals content (Ca, Fe, Na and K) were found to be within limit that will not be harmful to consumers.

Relevance Of Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome In The Evaluation Of Idiopathic Thrombosis

Introduction: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) is an important cause for idiopathic thrombotic events especially in young patients. Failure to recognize APS and initiate prompt treatment leads to considerable morbidity and mortality. There are only very few studies in Asian population on the significance of APS in the evaluation of idiopathic thrombosis. Here we describe the association of different APS tests with thrombotic events in Indian population. Method: The study was conducted at a Government Medical College in North Kerala, India.
