Abstract: 

Hantzsch synthesis of various substituted 1,4-dihydropyridine by Mg/Fe hydrotalcite catalyzed one-pot condensation reaction of aromatic aldehyde, β-dicarbonyl compound and ammonium carbonate at 550C. The products were isolated in good yields with short reaction time. Hydrotalcite are non–toxic, easy to separate and recyclable catalyst. Hence, this is process environment friendly. This work provides a simple, clean, rapid, an inexpensive and readily available catalyst and easy work up.
